Mrs. Joyce W. Beatty

“A Virtuous Woman” Proverbs 31:10-31 MEV On Thursday, November 21, 2024, Joyce Elaine Windley Beatty ascended gently and peacefully to her resting place where she awaits the return of Christ Jesus, her Lord and Savior. She was born on August 12, 1946 in Washinton, North Carolina to the late Joe Davis Windley and the late Lillie Mae Winstead Windley. Joyce has three siblings: Her brother Claude Davis Windley, who preceded her in death, surviving sister Hilda Holloway, and sister Ann W. Freeman who also preceded her in death. On June 1, 1968, she married the love of her life, James Franklin Beatty. From their union was born two daughters, Tuyet Mornice’ Beatty Moore (Rodriquez J. Moore), and Montressa Rene’ Beatty West (Christopher West); and bonus son, Sheddrick Ballard; three grandchildren: Nafe Tuyet Moore, Rodriquez J. Moore Jr, and Jjimeke James Beatty; devoted sisters-in-law, Barbara Boyd and Carolyn Cobb; a devoted brother-in-law, Cornillius J. Lilly Jr.; devoted friends of care, Barbara St. Clair, Gustavia Smallwood, Shirrell L. Thomas; a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Mrs. Beatty began her career in education at Eastern Elementary as a Teacher’s Assistant. There is where her passion was ignited to improve the quality of foundational education in an enriching safe environment for all children preparing to enter kindergarten. She began her career as one of the founding partners of Kiddie Wonderland Day Care located in the Runyon Creek community in 1975. From there she went on to establish Tender Love Day Care at its first location on East Nineth Street in 1979, where her clientele and staff continued to grow serving Washington, Beaufort County, Martin and Pitt County area. In 1990 she relocated Tender Love Day Care at 858 Hackney Ave. where she and her staff continued to provide top quality day care for her community. Mrs. Beatty’s company provided jobs for as many as twenty-two full-time and part-time educators that she took great joy in mentoring. She also found great joy and reward in the preparations for the annual graduation ceremonies at the Washington Civic Center, the floats entered into the Christmas Parade with their King and Queen riding gracefully on the floats and the many other activities that she created were to help instill a sense of worth the more in her kids. Mrs. Beatty formerly retired in the summer of 2004 after thirty years as devoted educator and community leader. Mrs. Joyce Beatty was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother (Me ’Ma), Sister, Sister-in-law and Friend serving everyone with a genuine heart filled with the love of Christ Jesus. Her love for Christ blessed all that her hands touched and blessed everyone’s life she encountered. Mrs. Beatty served faithfully many ministries with the Assembly of The Children of God Christian Church and succeeded her mentor as Mother of the church. And as such fulfilled Titus 2:3-5 in mentoring the young women of the church through word and example.
