Mr. Jesse Lee Sheppard Sr.

I go to prepare a place for you.” St. John 14:1-2 Mr. Jesse Lee Sheppard Sr., son of the late Richard Sheppard and Beatrice Duncan Sheppard was born in Pitt County on February 8, 1942. He departed this life on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Vidant Medical Center. Jesse attended Bethel Union High School, Bethel, NC. After high school he was employed by Greenville Utilities Commission where he was blessed to retire. In his early years of life, he married Mary V. Sheppard and from this union nine children were born. Later in life, he married Hazel Sheppard he was blessed with seven bonus children. Jesse joined Brown’s Chapel Holiness church on Belvoir Hwy at an early age under the leadership of the late Bishop R. A. Griswould. In 2015, he joined New Beginnings Deliverance Center Inc. under the leadership of Pastor Mary V. Sheppard; and served as a trustees until his death. Jesse enjoyed working outside in his yard as well as beautifying other people yards. He was a hardworking man that loved God and his family. He never met a stranger; always willing to lend a helping hand. In his relaxing time, he enjoyed all kinds of sporting events. On Monday’s and Friday’s night’s at 8:00pm, he dedicated that time to watch his wrestling; provided he did not have a church event. If you didn’t talk to him before his wrestling started, you would have to wait until the next day. Jesse would crack you up laughing and talking about his wrestling. There was not a night that went by that he didn’t talk to one of his children. He loved his dogs MoMo, JoJo, & Thor. He will truly be missed by all. Jesse was preceded in death by four brothers, Richard Earl Sheppard Jr., Willie Sheppard, Bobby Sheppard, and Robert Sheppard; two sisters, Doris “Irene” Sheppard Smith and Queenie Sheppard Murchison. Jesse leaves to celebrate his life and memories: Wife, Hazel Sheppard of home; three Sons, Jesse Lee Sheppard Jr. (Mary) of Albany, GA, Ashley Sheppard (Kim) of Cary, NC, Monty Sheppard of Brooklyn, NY; six Daughters, Virginia Ellison (Parker) of Cary, NC, Cindy Keels (Ronald) of Hope Mills, NC, Beverly Langley (Ernie) of Apex, NC, Melody Ellison (Mack) of Greenville, NC, Lisa Sheppard of Greenville, NC, Tykesha “TT” Barfield of Raleigh, NC; Seven bonus Children, Reginald House (Tracy) of Apopka, FL, Bobby House Jr. (Jonave) of Jonesboro, GA, Debbie Blackstock (Albert) of Wyncote, PA, Demita Jones of Plainfield, NJ, Delores Andrews (Walter) of Greenville, NC, Donna House of Lathonia, GA, and Deneen Spann of Lathonia, GA; one Brother, John Thomas “JT” Sheppard (Cornetta) of Greenville, NC; one Sister, Diana Sheppard Wooten of Greenville, NC; one Sister-in-Law, Irene Thomas of VA; four Godchildren, Yvonne Manning (Larry) of Bethel, NC, David Wooten of Falkland, NC, Ronielo (Onnie) Casaje of Greenville, NC, Prophetess Phyllis Jones of Greenville, NC; Thirty Grandchildren, Twenty-one Great-Grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
