Mr. Harold James Northern was born on January 10, 1965, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, North Carolina to Velton Northern and Norma W. Byrd. He departed this life on February 27, 2026 at his home surrounded by family and devoted friends. Harold was a proud graduate of North Pitt High School, Class of 1983. Known as a true “jack of all trades,” he had a gift for working with his hands and could fix just about anything. Whether it was home repairs, helping a friend, or tackling a new project, Harold took pride in being dependable and resourceful. Harold dedicated many years of hard work to his community and career. He worked with the Greenville Housing Authority from 1999 to 2008, spent eight years working with homebuilders, and five years with Nacco. He believed in working hard and providing for his family. Harold had several things that he enjoyed doing, playing cards, domino’s, being around his friends, watching different sports, cooking and most importantly EATING. Above all, he was a devoted father and a phenomenal grandfather. Affectionately known as “Ace” and “Pop,” he was a big kid at heart — always laughing, playing, and creating unforgettable memories with his grandchildren. His presence brought warmth, humor, and comfort to everyone around him. Harold was preceded in death by his loving mother, Norma Worthington; his father, Velton Northern; his beloved grandson, Ahmad Cobb; and his maternal grandparents, Kadorias Adams and James Adams. Harold leaves to cherish his precious memories, his wife, Crystal Northern of Greenville, NC; his son, Tylee Langley (Casey) of Atlanta, Georgia; his daughter, Ashley Langley of Greenville, North Carolina; his siblings, Velton Northern, Shelton Northern (Valenta), a devoted sister, Meta Northern, all of Greenville, North Carolina; his ten beloved grandchildren, Alaya Cobb of Farmville, NC, Tyhai Langley of Greenville, NC, Tymir Langley of Greenville, NC, Tylen Cobb of Atlanta, GA, Ashton Cobb of Atlanta, GA, Kaylee Paige of Greenville, NC, Mahogany Langley of Greenville, NC, Norquail Langley of Greenville, NC, Jahquail Langley of Greenville, NC, and Aaliyah Langley of Greenville, NC; two great-grandchildren, Iyeir Langley of Greenville, NC and Meila Brown of Farmville, NC; a devoted niece, Miya Harris of Greenville, NC; his godparents, Barbara Brown and George Brown of Greenville, North Carolina; two uncles, Alvin Worthington (Nikki) of Portland, Oregon, Lester Brown (Emma) of Virginia Beach, VA; his best friends and special friends, Windy Lynch, Greg Barfield, and Nick Bond, whom they all hung together almost every day .! Harold’s legacy of love, strength, laughter, and devotion to family will live on through all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered as “Pop” — the man who could fix anything and love everyone.
