George Quintin Knight whom family and close friends affectionately called “Pop”, “GQ” and “Toby Joe” was born March 15, 1960, in Robersonville, North Carolina to the late Jasper Rollins, Sr. and Frances Moore Knight. Pop peacefully entered eternal life on July 12, 2024, at 4:53am. Pop grew up in Robersonville, NC where he attended the Martin County Public Schools and graduated from Roanoke High School, Class of 1979. During his high school years, he drove the school bus for Martin County Public School System. He drove bus 29 and kept it detailed and shine. Pop married Magdelene Knight on July 16, 1982, to this union four children were born, Shawnte “Nikki”, Jennifer, Kenyata and George, Jr. Pop favorite sport teams were The Carolina Tarheels and the Carolina Panthers. He loved the outdoors, fishing, detailing cars, and mowing grass before his health decline. He loved his family and friends, but most of all he loved his grandchildren. Oh, and he loved chicken wings. Pop worked for Nora Leggett Farms in Robersonville, Perdue, and detailing cars. Pop was proceeded in death by his parents, Jasper Rollins, Sr. and Frances Moore Knight; seven sisters, Andrea Knight, Melba Andrews, Shirley Porter, Janie Powell, Velma, Judy, and Rosie Rollins; six brothers, Arthur, Luke “Bernie,” George, Shepard “Shep,” Jasper “Jack”, Jr., and William “Bud” Rollins; his favorite sister-in-law, Mary Suggs; brother-in-law, John P Suggs; mother-in-law, Patience B. Suggs. Pop leaves to mourn and cherish his everlasting memories to his wife, Magdelene Knight of the home; his four children, Shawnte Suggs, Jennifer Suggs, Kenyata Knight, and George Knight, Jr. all of Greenville, NC; eighteen grandchildren, Ja’Nieyah, Ny’Keriah, Horace, Malaysia, Jada, Kamarian, TaShayla, Elijah, TaeShaun, Cameron, Camarion, Ja’Nylah, Slevin, Skylah, Kaidin, Jaidin, Jaylah, and A’Khari. Five great grandchildren Nevaeh, Ny’Zir, Aryah, NaLani, and BabyGirl Willoughby; five sisters, Frances Ruffin (Ray), Teresa Knight, Helen Guy (Don), of North Carolina, Thelia Brown (Don), and Ida Rollins of New Jersey; five brothers, Future Knight, Philip Knight (Cynthia), Gerald Knight of North Carolina, Bobby Knight (Priscilla), Mark “Erine” (June) Rollins; three sisters-in-law, Catherine Daniels (Donald), Martha Grimes (Chuck), Margaret Heath (Alton); one brother-in-law, John Wayne Suggs; two special friends, Clarence Gilliam “KC” and Grady Langley “Shady Grady”; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
