Eula Huff, age 89, peacefully passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and five generations of family. Born in Williamston, North Carolina, on May 30, 1936, to the late Dorothy Huff Thompson and Columbus Brown, Sr., Eula was a woman of profound wisdom who deeply impacted everyone she met. Though she had a limited formal education, her sharp mind, life lessons, and guidance served as a blueprint for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild. At an early age, Eula accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, beginning a lifelong walk of faith. Her spiritual journey started at Williams Chapel AME Zion Church. Many years later, she joined Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church. There, she dedicated her time and talents to serving others in the Dining Room Ministry, bringing warmth and comfort to everyone she met. Eula was also deeply committed to her community. For many years, she traveled extensively with the NC Federation of Negro Women's Clubs, where she maintained a proud and faithful membership, working alongside others to make a positive impact. Eula was a dedicated worker who spent many years at dry cleaners in both Williamston and Greenville. Known for her love of sharp, pressed clothing, she always took great pride in her appearance, both clothing and hair. Though she never held a driver’s license, Eula traveled everywhere with ease—often better than those who could drive—always effortlessly coordinating her rides to and from the stores, appointments, out of town, and work, never missing a day. Eula spent many beautiful years working with the Biggs Funeral Home family, developing a profound relationship that felt like family. Her happiest weekends were spent in their company—drinking coffee, tidying up, and sharing stories about life’s journey. She held a special place in her heart for her true and lasting friendship with the late Ms. Julia Biggs and the entire Biggs family. A phenomenal cook, Eula expressed her love through food. She cooked full, delicious meals every single Sunday and lived for family gatherings during Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Homecoming. She was an avid shopper who loved hunting for sales, frequently spotting the best deals at the Williamston Piggly Wiggly or catching the turkey sales at Food Lion. Above all, she loved laughter, cherished her family, and her grandchildren were truly her world. Above all, Eula was a devoted mother who poured love into her family. She gave birth to and raised two wonderful children, Kenneth and Liz, both of whom she carried in her heart. Eula was preceded in death by her two beloved children, Kenneth Huff and Dorothy “Liz” Slade; her great-grandson, Tydrain Huff; all of her maternal siblings, James Carlton Huff, Alice Dennis, and Colleen Huff Deans, with Eula being the last surviving child born to her mother; and her paternal siblings, Evelyn Brown Leary, Mary Alice Brown, Columbus Brown, Jr., E. C. Brown, David Brown, and Jack Dickinson. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory to her loving devoted grandchildren: Shelton Slade (fiancée Tandrea), Anthony Slade (Kelli), Sherri Griffin (Torico), and Tonya Huff. She is also survived by her adoring great-grandchildren: Shataun, Jamale, Mikayla, Kristian, Jaileya, Layla, Skylar, Trinity, and Ashton; her precious great-great-grandchild: Dakotah; her loving supportive son-in-love: Larry “Butch” Slade; her loving supportive daughter-in-love: Anita Williams; her siblings: Marie Perry (Levi) and Vivian Gray;; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
