Mrs. Edna Moore

Edna Spain Whichard Moore was born on May 6, 1928 and raised in Pitt County, NC. She was the eighth child of fifteen children born to Elijah and Lillie Spain. Edna departed this life on, Sunday, April 16, 2023. Edna was brought up in a christian home and at the age of 17 she joined Browns Chapel Holiness Church, Greenville NC and served as a Mother of the church until her death. Edna spent most of her life in Greenville, NC. She attended Sally Branch Elementary School and completed high school at Bethel Union High School. Edna married William Harvey Whichard in 1945 and within this union three children were born. In 1955 Edna married Accriah Moore and within this union six children were born. Edna was a spiritual easy-going person and loved by everyone who knew her. She was our “Queen” who dressed with class. She loved and enjoyed spending time with her children and family. Edna enjoyed reading her bible, cooking, word search puzzles, traveling and sending text messages. Through-out her life she worked various occupations, but primarily a as homemaker raising her children. Edna was a member of the Seniors Helping Hands Club and a member of Greenfield Terrace Community. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Elisha and Lillie Spain; stepmother, Melissa Grimes Spain; her husband, Accriah Moore; a son, William A. Whichard; a daughter, Francine Teel; her siblings; one grandson, Brian Kente Ebron; one great-grandson, Kevin Christopher Wilson; one son-in-law, Jeffery Hines. Edna leaves to cherish her precious memories, seven children, Edna Minor (Steven) of Williamston, NC, Phyllis Hines of Morrisville NC, Joel Moore (Margaret) of Richmond VA, Lisa Moore-Ebron of Greenville, NC, Cornelius Moore (Irene) of Honolulu, HI, Wayland Moore (Chandra) of Greenville, NC, Eldred Moore of Greenville, NC, 26 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, 28 great-great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Margie Spain and Florence Diggs; a special nephew, Jerrol Moore of Bridgeport, CT; a special niece, Mary Perkins of Greenville, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
