Ms. Dorothy L. Purvis

Dorothy L. “Goose” Purvis was born on November 26, 1954 in Robersonville, N.C., the eleventh of fourteen children to William and Mary Purvis. She departed this earth and gained her wings on Thursday, February 18, 2018 in her home. Dorothy grew up and attended Robersonville Public Schools. Dorothy was a very hard worker, working in the restaurant business as a cook for over 30 years. She trained many employees in her field and served as a mentor to them in their profession. She was always the “life of the party”, and she enjoyed gathering with family and friends to fellowship and have fun. She was often the “glue” that kept the family together in laughter and love. She loved to laugh; she had an infectious laugh that could light up an entire room. “Goose” loved to dance, and she would dance any and everywhere there was music. Goose was also fond of watching television series, and she especially loved “The Andy Griffith Show”. She loved being around family, especially her beautiful grandchildren. Without a doubt, Goose loved the Lord. She prayed for each and every person she loved. She was the loving mother of her only two boys, Andrea Purvis and Chevalier “Terrell” Purvis. They were the loves of her life. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory, her sons: Andrea Purvis and Chevalier Terrell Purvis, both of Danbury, CT; her special “son” Wilson Roberson; eleven grandchildren, Dreshon Ampley, Domonique Ampley, Cornelius Streeter, Destiny Streeter, Lynda Ampley, Zavadiah Purvis, Andre W. “Dre-Dre” Purvis, Drena Purvis, Shomanee Mobley, Diquavia Knight, and Jasmine Stevenson. She also leaves to cherish her memory, two great-grandchildren, Paris Williams and Devron Ampley. Her sisters, Velma Little of Danbury, CT; Mary Lou Daniels of Orange, NJ; and Hilda Martin (Ozie) of New Milford, CT. Seven brothers, William Purvis of Plainfield, NJ, Ricky Purvis of Danbury, CT, Jimmy Purvis of Williamston, NC, Terry Purvis of Greenville, NC, Mackey Purvis of Lithonia, GA, Linburgh Purvis (Sharon) of Tampa, FL, Bobby Dean Purvis (Sue) of New Milford, CT. She will also be sorely missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. She was predeceased in death by her parents, William and Mary Purvis; three sisters Odell Purvis, Ruby Dell Razor, and Thelma “Pete” Moore
