Tributes

Doris Ann Lee Hudson was born on December 20, 1942 to the late Lenora and Romus Lee Jr in Edgecombe County, NC. She went on to receive her heavenly reward on Saturday September 28, 2013. Doris received her formal educational training from the Martin County School system and later continued her learning at Martin Community College, receiving her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificate. On August 22, 1963 she was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Rev. Robert L. Hudson Sr.. From this union came five children. After a brief military stay with her husband in Germany, they relocated to Pleasantville, NJ and then McKee City, NJ. There she was employed at various companies: Wheaton Plastics, Buffalo Plastics and Shelton Manufacturing. Doris later returned to North Carolina in 1986 where she was employed at Southern Apparel. After receiving her CNA certificate she was employed at several nursing facilities: Carlton Inn, Vintage Inn and the Brian Center. Doris was a longtime member of Chapel Hill Missionary Baptist Church of Williamston, NC. When she resided in New Jersey, Doris was affiliated with Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of Pleasantville, NJ where she was appointed as a Deaconess, Faith Baptist Church of Pleasantville, NJ, Shiloh Baptist Church of Ocean City, NJ, First Baptist Church of Woodbine, NJ and Walking In Fellowship Outreach Ministries of Pleasantville, NJ. Doris was loved by many for her caring and unselfish spirit. She truly lived to the title “If I can help somebody, then my living will not be in vain”. Doris always kept a smile on her face and heavenly Praise from her mouth. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, parents Lenora and Romus, and a sister, Sarah Lee Patterson. Doris leaves to cherish her memories, five children: William Blannon of Pennsylvania, James Hudson (Valerie) of Scranton, PA, Minister Jullia Moore (William) of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, Rhonda Lynette Hudson of the home, Robert Hudson, Jr. (Ebony) of Williamston, NC; she also helped raise her granddaughter, Tia Hudson of Columbia, SC and her nephew, Eric Moore (Tina) of Rocky Mount, NC; three step-children, Yolanda Cross of Chapel Hill, NC, Jackie Harrington of Hempstead NY and Valentina Dugan of Atlantic City, NJ; a god-daughter Kenshay Brown of Williamston; one sister Mary Hagan of Williamston: two brothers, Willie Lee of Brooklyn NY and Ronald Lee of Williamston; twenty-six grandchildren; six great grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
