Mrs. Dolores Lumbard

Dolores “Cookie” Lumbard age 94, of Detroit, Michigan, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025 in Greenville, NC. Born on June 14, 1931, in Detroit, MI. to Darious and Marie Walker. She gave her life to Christ at a young age and was a member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit before moving to Greenville, NC. To live with her niece. While in Greenville she made new friends at the Senior Center and attended church at Koinonia Christian Center where she was affectionately called “Auntie” by everyone. Cookie lived a long and fulfilling life rooted in hard work, quiet strength, and the love of family. She retired after 30 years of service at the Department of the Treasury, where her attention to detail and strong work ethic were greatly valued. Outside of her professional life, Cookie was a remarkably talented seamstress. Her skilled hands created everything from elegant garments to lovingly crafted keepsakes, each piece a reflection of her patience and artistry. She found joy in sewing for those she loved, and her creations live on as cherished reminders of her care and creativity. Cookie was married to the love of her life, Howard Lumbard, for 36 years. Their marriage was a lasting testament to devotion and companionship. Though they had no children of their own, Cookie played a loving and constant role in the lives of her extended family. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Sylvia L. Jones, husband, great nephew, Jordan and great niece, ReAnne Cookie leaves to cherish her memory: her niece, Claire Henry; nephews: Larry Walker (Debbie), Michael Henry (Amy), and John Jones. 5 Great nephews and nieces and 5 great-great nephews and nieces. All will remember her warmth, her sense of humor, and the strength of character that defined her life. Cookie will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her. Following the memorial service, an ice cream social will be held in the fellowship hall at Koinonia Christian Center Church.
