If I can help somebody, as I pass along, then my living shall not be in vain. Clenora Austin was born on February 3, 1936 in Edenton, North Carolina to Jessie Clayton Austin and Geneva Blount Austin. She departed this life on Monday, November 3, 2025 at Edenton House, Edenton, NC. Clenora was baptized at an early age at Pleasant Grove AME Zion Church is where her spiritual journey began. Clenora was educated at the Edenton Public School. She graduated from DF Walker in 1954 with honors and proudly played on the girls’ basketball team and was a member of Edenton Marching Band. Clenora worked at Horton’s Dentist Office, Pettigrew Library, Chowan Credit Union, TG&Y and DF Walker After School Care. She was involved with the community and church, with NAACP, Chowan Civic League, Choir Director of the Pleasant Grove Mass Choir, Gospel Ensemble and Trustee Board. Clenora was preceded in death by her son, Gerald A Wynn; her parents, Jessie Austin and Geneva B. Austin; her brother, Eddie P. Austin; sister, Hazel A Backus; her niece, Karen Daves. Clenora leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Judith Holloway of Newport News, VA; her loving grandchildren, Curtis Gaskins of Newport News, VA, Letrick Bond of Gaithersburg, MD, Jesse Stewart (Marshayla) of Houston, TX; five great-grandchildren, Nashia Gaskins of Hampton, VA, Kindall Gaskins of Newport News, VA, Jalia Gaskins, Josiah Gaskins both of Hampton, VA, Curtis Gaskins, Jr of Reynolds, Ohio; three great-great-grandchildren, Quasism Lassiter, Athena Stewart, Ronin Jackson Stewart; her sister, Marie A Daves of Edenton; her brother, Joseph Austin (Marie) of Upper Marlboro, MD; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
