Dr. Carolyn Regennia Mattocks went to live with the Lord on April 24, 2019. Although sudden and unexpected, we find comfort in knowing Carolyn accomplished much in her fifty years of life. Above all things Carolyn was devoted to her love of God and family. Born April 2, 1969 to the late Gerald B. Mattocks, Sr. and Mae Bell Mattocks. Carolyn grew up in a loving and Christian home. Always quiet, Carolyn always excelled academically. As a result, she was a 1987 graduate of Aurora High School where she was class Valedictorian. Carolyn earned her bachelor’s degree in history from North Carolina Central University, her master’s in public administration from North Carolina State University and her doctorate in Public Policy from Walden University. Carolyn earned an array of prestigious fellowships and awards, too numerous to name. Profession spanned many years in federal government with her final assignment with the Department of Justice. Always with a passion to teach combined with her love of history and research, Carolyn taught at Northern Arizona University, Baltimore City Community College, Sojourner-Douglas College and the College of Southern Maryland. At the time of her passing she was teaching for Ashford University for which she had been employed for seven years and served on the faculty Senate and other committees. Carolyn was also driven by a desire to leave a legacy for future generations. With that vision in mind she established the “I Can Do Anything” Organization. The organization’s mission was “If the Mind can believe. It can indeed do anything”. Carolyn authored two books around the organization, “I Can Do Anything” for African Americans and later a Latino version. At the time of passing she was working on plans to expand the organization to other states. Carolyn leaves to cherish her memories, her loving mother, Mae B. Mattocks; three brothers, Ronald C. Williams (Sharon) of Edward, NC, Gerald B. Mattocks (Sandra) of Baltimore, MD, and Micheal Mattocks (Karen) of Columbia, SC; one sister, Anniette Mattocks Keyes (Ray) of Washington, NC; nephews, Pastor Ronald C. Williams, Jr. (Tresha), Terrence Pettiford, Brad Jones, Taron Mattocks, Damien Mattocks, Asim Mattocks, Kalen Mattocks; nieces, Dr. Mileka Mattocks Marshall, Ms. Kara Mattocks; uncles, John Mattocks (Miriam), Walter Mattocks (Lois); aunts, Elder Eula Mattocks and Ms. Clara Neely; one great aunt, Mrs. Evelyn Hemby; a host of cousins, academic associates and friends. “I Can Do All Things through Christ Which Strengthenth Me".
