Mr. Bobby Ray Hines

In loving memory of Mr. Bobby Ray Hines, known affectionately as “Bobby Ray,” who was born on July 10, 1954, in Pitt County to the late Jasper Council and late Annie Blanch Hines. He peacefully departed this life at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, NC, on Thursday, May 23, 2024, surrounded by his devoted family. Bobby Ray lived his life in Bethel, NC, where he formed lasting connections within the city of Bethel. He was a proud graduate of North Pitt High School, class of 1972. On December 1, 1978, Bobby Ray exchanged vows with his high school sweetheart, Barbara Stancil, in a union that was the cornerstone of his life. Their love story served as an inspiration to all who knew them. Throughout his journey, Bobby Ray cherished moments spent with his family, especially his 6 grandchildren. He welcomed anyone who stopped by his home for a personal visit or extended conversation standing in his yard. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and memories treasured by his family and friends forever. Bobby Ray began his career at Tarboro Concrete and Building Supply in1972, where he started by driving the Building Supply truck, transporting cinder blocks, mortar mix, and steel doors. His dedication and hard work led to a promotion in1982, where he drove the ready-mix truck until his health declined in March 2023. Beyond his professional endeavors, Bobby Ray found solace in watching sports, some of his favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys, UNC Tar-Heels, New York Yankees, and the LA Lakers. He was also a devoted car enthusiast, admiring the beauty of various automobiles. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Barbara Hines of the home; his three children, Quentin Hines (Shirley) of Charlotte, NC, Stacy Hines of Greenville, NC, and Lance Hines of Greenville, NC; six grandchildren, Shakara Hines, Samari Hines, Quentin Hines Jr., Lance Hines Jr., Jayceon Hines, and Autum Hines; six siblings, Rosa Hines of Winterville, NC, Dorothy Roberson of Bethel, NC, Gordon Ray Barnes of Brooklyn, NY, Veronica Brown of Durham, NC, Jasper Council Jr. of Parmele, NC and Brent Council (Andrea) of Parmele, NC; a step-mother, Lula Council of Parmele, NC; special niece, Krystal Hines of Winterville, NC; five sisters in law; two brothers in law; a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
