To his Thessalonian friends Paul wrote, “I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him.” I Thessalonians 4:13-14 Born in Williamston, North Carolina January 19, 1926, Blanche Mae Brown, affectionately known as “Bate” was the daughter of the late James Aaron and Dora Biggs Brown. Having been reared in a Christian home, she accepted Christ at an early age and joined Cedar Hill Missionary Baptist Church. For many years she sang in the choir and served as an usher and attended church diligently until her health failed. She attended the public schools of Martin County. Blanche was a long time employee of the Shamrock Restaurant in Williamston until her retirement. Her love of cooking was demonstrated through her family and the community as well. On Monday, September 19, 2016, God called Blanche from her earthly abode to her eternal home. The family is grateful to God for blessing us with the life of Blanche Mae Brown. We are especially thankful for her love, hard work, encouragement, her constant companionship she gave her family and others alike. Not only did she love her family, but she never met a stranger. She got great joy from fishing. Her infectious smile and caring spirit will be sorely missed. Blanche married Randolph “Randa” Brown who preceded her in death. The Lord blessed this union with seven children. She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Corbett Brown, Frederick Brown; two brothers, Charlie Burt Brown, George Brown, two sisters, Viola Brown, Hattie Brown; two sisters-in-law, Lela Mae Brown, Sadie Brown. To rejoice in her memory and to mourn her passing she leaves three sons, Ralph Brown (Linda), Clinton Brown, Randolph Brown all of Williamston, NC; four daughters, Deloris Hudgins of Baltimore, MD, Brenda Wilson (Earl) of Windsor, NC, Claranet Duggins (Ricky) of Hamilton, NC, Shelia Brown (Wendell) of Williamston, NC; fifteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; one brother, Clarence Brown (Modestine) of Willingboro, NJ; four sisters, Ollie Moses (WC), Dorothy Worsley, Janie Burns both of Williamston, NC and Lucille Brown of Colonial Heights, VA; several nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and friends.
