Arthur Lee Everett waws born on December 9, 1940 in Martin County, NC to the late Reavie and Ella Mae Everett. Arthur was the sixth of thirteen siblings, ten boys and three girls. He received his education in the Martin County School System. While attending school, he also had to do farm work, which he really disliked. Arthur decided to relocate to Brooklyn, NY to live with family. He worked various jobs as a messenger with Banker’s Trust, where he served from 1967-2002. Arthur was very passionate about his work responsibilities. For his faithfulness during that period, he was awarded a Rolex watch for not missing an unearned day of work for nine consecutive years. He happily retired from Banker’s Trust. Arthur started his spiritual journey at Brownville Community Church in Brooklyn, NY. He very soon accepted a position as Trustee. Again, he was prompt and became one of the Armor bearers for his pastor until his health started to decline. Arthur loved playing basketball and baseball, but his passion was for baseball. His position was backstop/catcher, and his favorite baseball team was the NY Mets and the New York Knicks for basketball. Arthur later, due to his health situation, relocated to Greenville, NC to live with Grover and Daisy Everett, which was a blessing for him, and his siblings was so thankful. Arthur started attending St. John MBC. He joined and helped with several tasks, food bank and assisting wherever needed. Arthur is now reunited with his wife, Margaret Everett; parents, Reavie and Ella Mae Everett; sister, Ollie Mae Johnson; brothers, Melton, Prophic, JD and Joseph. Arthur leaves to cherish his departure, his children, Jeffery (Ella), Nakeema (Thelmus), Gary all of New York, Frazier (Charlotte) of Fayetteville, NC; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Ella of MD, Gloria (Donald) of Alexandria, VA; five brothers, Billy (Mary), Grover (Daisy), Preston (Edna), Lenor (Mary) all of NC, Alton of Washington, DC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A special recognition to his “caretaker” Patricia Grimes at MacGregor Downs Health Center. For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that loved His appearing.
