The Life of Alonzo Wright… Alonzo “Boo-Boo” Wright was born on January 6th in Shelby, North Carolina. He and Doretha Edwards were married on October 13, 1982 in Virginia. Together they raised four successful children, Alfonzo Maurice Wright, Alonzo Roscoe Wright, Giovanni Nicole Wright and Kendra Latson. Always a hardworking man. Alonzo devoted his life to providing for his family, from being a maintenance man at Roosevelt Towers Apartment complex, in Arlington, Virginia, to ensuring that anything you needed repaired from roofing, to vehicles. Alonzo was no stranger to hard work. He loved and adored his family and gave everything he had to ensure their success. In his later years, Alonzo enjoyed laughing and being a comedian, always referring to his wife as “darling”, referring to his twin men as “them boys” and his daughters as “them girls”. Alonzo was a gentle giant and was the cornerstone for his family. Alonzo was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sally Wright; sister, Delia Wright; father-in-law, George Burney; mother-in-law, Doris Edwards Garris; grandmother-in-law, Doretha Garris; uncle, Tommie Edwards; brothers- in-law, James and Tommy Garris; nephew, Danny Garris. Alonzo is survived by his faithful and devoted wife, Doretha Wright; four devoted children, Alfonzo Wright (significant other, Istau Turay), Alonzo Wright (Marie), Giovanni Wright and Kendra Latson. The fruit that he sowed have come to full harvest in the birth and growth of his eleven grandchildren; Deontae Pender, Lorenzo Wright, Jassie Teage, God “Shem” Jones, Jaden De Vinney, Brooklyn Scott, Esaia Wright, Elijah Wright, Ayanah Wright, Kierre “Foosie” Carrol, Ka’liyah Allen; one sister, Nadine Patterson; one brother, Albert “Earl” Burney (Theressa); three sisters-in-law, Judy Williams, Bobby Brown, Diana Atkinson; four brothers-in-law, Leon Burney, Roscoe “Rocky” Garris, Norwood Garris, Kenneth “Joe Baby” Garris; special friends, Sharon Vega-Cardona, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert and Marilyn Avery, Brittney Avery, Ashley Russell, Christina Cheeks, Shannon Haynie, Joseph Ridley, Joseph Twumasi, Javnetta Bynum and a host of nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.
