Mother Allily McLawhorn was born on January 6, 1929 in Pitt County to the late Nellie Maye and was reared by the late Joseph and the late Lizzie Killebrew. She transitioned from earthly labor to her heavenly reward on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 8:35 pm at her home. Mother McLawhorn attended Fleming Street School, C.M. Eppes and earned her G.E.D. in the mid 80’s through Pitt Community College. Mother McLawhorn was employed with the Pitt County Court House and retired after many years of service with the Department of Social Service in its housekeeping department. Mother McLawhorn was a living legend having given 80 years of dedicated Christian service to Mount Calvary F.W.B. Church. She was affiliated with the following: Mother Board, Usher Board #1, Pastor Aide, Home Mission and housekeeping. She was also affiliated with: Ladies Delight #10 Order of Eastern Star, Moyewood and Winterville Senior Citizens. Mother McLawhorn shared many happy moments with the members of the “Golden Girls”; which included the late Mothers, Sarah Daniels, Janie Daniels, Arlene Ebron and Blanche Dupree. Mother McLawhorn as she was affectionately known as “Ma Ma” to many found great joy in sharing her home and kitchen on Sundays to all who loved her delicious home cooked meal and fellowshipping with family. Mother McLawhorn was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon James T. McLawhorn, Sr.; sister, Catherine Moye; brother, Wilbur Maye. Mother McLawhorn leaves cherished memories with her children, James T. McLawhorn, Jr. (Barbara) of Columbia, SC, Melvin McLawhorn (Sandra) of Greenville, NC, Barredell McLawhorn (Peggy) of Warner Robbins, GA, Belinda M. Gallop of Greenville, NC, Michael McLawhorn of the home, Christopher McLawhorn (Lisa) of Grimesland, NC; sister, Mary L. King of Winterville, NC; sisters-in-law, Julia Maye of Greenville, NC, Ruby Mack of New Haven, CT; brother-in-law, Robert Anderson (Germaine) of Charlotte, NC; seventeen grandchildren, Kimberly Tucker, Sharon McNeil (Leo), Leonard Wooldridge, Karla Hawkins (Eric), Keisha Barrett (Anthony), Melvin McLawhorn II (Natasha), Lamont Staton, Tania Staton, Coriatta Barrett, James McLawhorn, III, Crystal Wilson (Vinson), Tiffany Green (Kyle), Mark McLawhorn, Christopher McLawhorn, Jr. (Jacinta), Destini McLawhorn, Immanuel McLawhorn, Isiah McLawhorn; twenty-five great grandchildren; seven godchildren, Jewel T. Knight, Robert Walton, Dianne Barnes, Gloria Cooper, Lavette Ford, Gwendolyn Edge, James Staton; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
