Link number 2 for service..https://fb.watch/lmSdniu9b5/?mibextid=SDPelY Mother Alice Battle was born on July 17, 1926, to the late Nick and Pattie Daniels Battle in Pitt County, North Carolina. She departed this earthly life on June 13, 2023, at The Service League of Greenville Inpatient Hospice House. Mother Battle was educated in the Pitt County School system at the Cherry Lane School. She spent several years working in different types of fields for income before becoming employed by the Pitt County school system as a cafeteria worker later becoming the manager for over 25 years. After retirement she enjoyed sewing and cooking for others. Mother Battle accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Sycamore Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where she was raised. At the age of 20 along with her husband became one of the three founding members of Whichard’s Chapel Holy Church of Power under the leadership of the late Bishop Lonnie Fleming. She was a member of Whichard’s Chapel for 76 years. There she served as the president of the kitchen, sang in the senior choir and was an ordained church mother for 50+ years, that she took pride in. In the early 1940s Mother Battle met the love of her life: Deacon Willie “Bill” Battle. They later married in February 1944 in a small house on Rams Horn Rd. This union was truly and visibly a God-ordained union, when you saw one you saw the other. They were both always recognized for being a nice, kind, understanding and well-dressed couple. This marriage was blessed with 6 children and 74 years of pure love before Deacon Battle’s transition in 2018. Mother Battle enjoyed cooking her collard greens and pineapple cake being a family and friend favorite, she also enjoyed caring for others when she could. Mother Battle was all around a sweet, God-fearing woman of God which many can concur. She loved being around her family laughing and reminiscing on old times. Mother Battle was preceded in death by her parents, Nick and Pattie Daniels Battle; husband, Willie Battle; two sons, Clifton Battle and Troy Battle; five sisters, Viola Wilson, Maggie Battle, Martha Battle, Lucy Harris, and Annie Battle; five brothers, Charlie Lee Battle, Henry Daniels, Mack “Buddy Mack” Langley, Arthur Langley, and Robert Louis Battle. Mother Battle leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Betty Hodges of Cliffwood, NJ, Valerie Perkins of the home and Sheila Battle of Greenville, NC; two sons, Willie Battle, Jr. (Joyce) of Seattle, WA and John Lindsay Battle of Newark, NJ; one sister-in-law, Eunice Battle; fourteen grandchildren, Sherry, Michelle, Beverly, Eric, LaRonda, Sharonna, Daryl, Tamika, Cedric, Randy, Patasha, Zahna, Micah, and Mickael; great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; her God children; David Boyd, Minnie Crandell, Carolyn Chapman, Lonnie Perkins, James Perkins, Andre Perkins, Cleveland Perkins, and Derrick Perkins; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
