Mother Adline Mizelle Carr

Mother Adline Mizelle Carr, daughter of Joseph and Connie Mizelle was born on a farm in Martin County on May 4, 1931. She transitioned from labor to reward on Sunday, December 4, 2022. Mother Carr’s unwavering faith in God and strong will to live carried her throughout her 91 years of life. Mother Carr received her formal education in the Martin County and Beaufort County school systems. She was employed in the textile industry and retired as a housekeeper. She was also an immaculate cook and homemaker. Mother Carr joined Belmont Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and served faithfully as a member of the Senior Usher board, Recording Secretary, and Mother’s Board. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Deacon Ervin Carr, Sr. for 50 years. This union was blessed with three loving children. A farm girl at heart, Mother Carr was an early riser and accomplished many activities before daybreak. Walking, gardening, cooking, and enjoying family and friends were just a few of her passions. She had a wonderful green thumb and enjoyed nurturing beautiful flowers in her flower bed and backyard garden. Mother Carr was known for her independent spirit which was reflected in many of her organizational activities such as the Martin County Missionary Union, the Senior Citizens Social Organization, and the Ladies of Wisdom Social Club. Her signature gift of spreading love and joy through her constant smiles, her laughter and quick wit, and her Christian fellowship will never be forgotten. Mother Carr is preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Carr, Sr; her son, Ervin Carr, Jr; her parents, Joseph and Connie Mizelle; her siblings, James Earl Mizelle, Lester Mizelle, John Aaron Mizelle, Booker T. Mizelle, and Shirley Watford. Mother Carr leaves to cherish her legacy, one daughter, Elinda McCray of Parmele, NC; one son, Jarvis Carr (Sherry) of Raeford, NC; daughter in-law, Barbara Hollis Carr of Winterville, NC; one brother, Roger Mizelle (Darlene) of Robersonville, NC; one sister, Mary Williams (David) of Sanford, NC; two sisters in law, Lois Green (Hosea) of Forestville, MD and Ethel Mason of San Antonio, TX; one special grandson of the home, Brian McCray of Parmele, NC; six special god- children, Mary Andrews, Joe & Pat Crandell, Von Davis, Min. Syliva M. Shepard, and Donnell Williams; ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; a host of other loved ones and special friends.
