Wayne Harding Davis entered the world on September 24, 1958 in Philadelphia, PA and departed, unexpectedly early, on Friday, August 5, 2016 in Huntersville, NC. The only child of John T. and Maevon Davis, Wayne grew up in Robersonville. At a very early age, he joined Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Robersonville where he taught Sunday School and worked as a youth church leader. Upon graduation from Robersonville High School, Wayne enrolled in UNC-Chapel Hill where he graduated in 1980. While at UNC, he joined the Theta Omicron Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and was a member of Air Force ROTC. After college, Wayne entered the U.S. Air Force where he rose to the rank of Captain and earned a Master of Science degree from Golden State University. When he left the military, Wayne entered a long and illustrious career in sales, marketing and event ticketing while developing entertainment venues. This specialty took Wayne from Buffalo, NY to Phoenix, AZ, where in 2002, he formed Global Entertainment Marketing Systems (GEMS), a full-service ticketing sales company. He then expanded that foundation in 2006 when he chose a Charlotte, NC location to launch the EZ-TIXX brand and ticketing services. Inspired by his deep commitment to the growth and development of Charlotte, Wayne was the current President of the Metro Chapter of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce and served many years on the Board. He chaired the Charlotte Post Foundation Golf Tournament and supported the Post Foundation Gala for years. Always active with his family and especially committed to his daughter, Wayne served as assistant softball coach and past Chairman of the Jack and Jill Charlotte Chapter Father’s Auxiliary. Wayne’s parents preceded him in death. Wayne is survived by his devoted wife, Cynthia; loving daughter, Makenzie Davis; uncles and aunts, James Wynn, Sr., Lena Mae Bell Stancil, Doris Bell Wolfe (Richard), Brenda Barksdale, Henry Bell (Bertha) and Dorothy Joyner. Wayne was fortunate to have devoted first cousins who were brought up with him as his siblings, Angela Jarrett (Arthur), Joan Hyman, Judge James Wynn, Jr. (Jacqueline), Reginald Wynn, Sr., Dr. Anita Wynn Taylor, Dr. Arnie Wynn (Pamela); he was especially devoted to sisters-in-law, Doris and Annette Roberts, a host of extended family members, fraternity brothers, close friends who loved and adored him.
