Ms. Myrtle Denise White

Myrtle Denise White was born February 1, 1959 to the late J.D. White and Myrtle Barnhill White of Avinger, Texas. She was affectionately called “Neese” by relatives and close friends. “Neese” departed this life on Tuesday, February, 23, 2016. “Neese” graduated from Roanoke High School and obtained a degree in Early Childhood Education from Martin Community College. Babies and young children were her passion and as a result she worked in various positions with children with developmental delays. After obtaining certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant II, “Neese” later worked for Vidant Medical Center in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit where she continued to nurture, care, and love the babies who needed it the most. In addition to babies and children with developmental needs, “Neese” was equally committed to helping all of those with a need regardless of age. Consequently she shifted the focus of her work with babies to include time for senior citizens. The individuals she worked with continued to call and check on her many years after she transitioned into other roles. “Neese” had a rich full life filled with many interests. She loved babies, her grandchildren and grand dogs, gardening, flowers, hummingbirds, black cats (which she had for over 23 years), talking on the phone with friends and loved ones, Christmas, and her self-proclaimed twin—Aretha Franklin. She particularly loved shopping---shopping in catalogs, shopping at flea markets, shopping at farmers markets, shopping at outlet malls, shopping at regular malls, shopping for shoes, hats, jewelry. Shopping for trinkets and gadgets of all kinds because as she used to say, “You can save it for a rainy day”. "Neese" loved shopping for rooster memorabilia for her kitchen and dining room decorations and because she had a heart of gold, she would always pick up something for friends and loved ones. "Neese’s" favorite shows were Walker Texas Ranger, Matlock, Zoo, Criminal Minds, CSI, Law and Order, The Walking Dead. She particularly loved old Western movies and shows any Star Trek series or movie. “Neese” loved Lifetime, Syfy, any Disney or Pixar movie especially “A Bug’s Life” and “The Lion King”. Some of Neese’s favorite musicians were Etta James, Shirley Caesar, Al Green, Ann Nesby, Michael McDonald, and of course Aretha Franklin. “Neese” was preceded in her sunset by her father, J.D. White; two brothers, Lindsey Ray, Gregory Dean; one niece, Cinnamon; one grandson she affectionately nicknamed “The Score”, Noah Alexander Clark. “Neese” was a joyful person who loved to laugh, was extremely creative, fiercely independent and loyal, and deeply loved God, family, and friends. Those who remain to exemplify all of Neese’s wonderful traits include, her mother, Myrtle Barnhill White of Avinger, Texas; four sons, Quinton Devon, Adrian Val, Kadeem Valdez, and Keanu Reeves; three daughters, Courtney, Brandy Latrese, and Don’nise Quanet; three grandchildren, Marcus Cyril, Jr., Madison Shaddai, and La’asia Latrese; one son-in-law, Marcus Cyril, Sr.; one brother, JD White, Jr.; four sisters, Belinda, Theresa, Antoinetta, and Vonetta; two brothers-in-law, Morris Bell and William Rodgers; adopted aunt, Doris Little; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives that are too numerous to name but each held a special place in her heart nevertheless.
