On Saturday, June 11, 2016 our beloved Lavarn Stanley Hyman gracefully left her earthly home and entered into eternal heavenly rest with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Lavarn was the second born to the late Jesse Stanley, Jr. and the late Ann Collins Stanley on July 1, 1961 in Pitt County. Lavarn attended Pitt County Schools and joined Reddick’s Chapel MBC at an early age and later became a member of New Saint Delight Church of God in Christ in Bethel, NC. Lavarn moved to New Haven, CT where she was employed at Church’s Chicken Franchise. She relocated back home to Bethel, NC where she was employed at Burroughs Welcome and Garner’s Merchandise, Greenville, NC. Lavarn exemplified her love for her family and her desire to serve others of all ages. In this role she distinguished herself as a caring, fun loving person such as giving people nicknames to fit their personalities. Lavarn was the Queen of Cooking. If you ever knew Lavarn, you knew her number one passion was cooking, having cookouts and of course eating. You could not have a conversation without her providing you with a recipe. She loved taking pictures and was very photogenic. Lavarn was preceded in death by one sister, Leatrice Stanley; grandmother, Julie Speight; devoted aunts and uncles. Lavarn leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Marshall Hyman; one daughter, Leatrice Stanley of Bethel, NC; one son, Marshall Vonde Hyman of the home; two sisters, Yvette Stanley of Bethel, NC, Gina Stanley of New York; three brothers, Brad and Thad Stanley of New Haven, CT, Jesse D. Stanley, III of Virginia; two god-sisters, Janice Brewer of Durham, NC, Angela Nieves of New York; two grandchildren, Ja’Nascia Jacobs and Ja’Liyah Stanley both of Bethel, NC; three uncles, Floyd Speight of Durham, NC, James Stanley (Brenda) of Robersonville, NC, Charles Stanley (Brenda) of New York; four aunts; Queen Ester Crandol of Greenville, NC, Catherine Cox (Dennis Ray) of Bethel, NC, Rosetta Doward, Elizabeth Watson (Glover) both of New Haven, CT; great aunt, Ella Mae Redd of Virginia Beach, VA; sister-n-law, Margie Hyman of Rocky Mount, NC; brother-n-law, Danny Hyman of Rocky Mount, NC; special friends, Lori Ann Griggs, Cynthia Cherry of Bethel, NC, Sylvia Knight of Raleigh, NC; special caretaker, Dora Thomas of Bethel, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
