Tributes

Kimly Sabine Blanton departed this earthly life on Wednesday, September 21, 2016. Kim was the second oldest daughter of John Alvin and Ellen Fisher Blanton of Roseboro, NC born in Frankfurt, West Germany on January 17, 1964. Kim earned certificates, diplomas, degrees and special recognitions from Lakewood High School, East Carolina University, North Carolina State University, North Carolina Central University, Microsoft, Novell, Global Knowledge, American Library Association, SoLInet and Girl Scout USA. Kim worked for Academic Library Services, the main library of East Carolina, for eighteen years working her way from a student worker to a System Administrator and Supervisor of the Networking Unit. Kim enjoyed working in the ministries at her church, Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church, Greenville, NC, her adopted church, Phillippi Missionary Baptist Church, Simpson, NC as well as her childhood church, St. Thomas AMEZ, Roseboro, NC. Kim being a lifetime member of Girl Scouts served twenty-one years as a troop leader with her church troop. She started a second troop at South Greenville Parks and Recreation. Kim also taught Sunday School and loved the candid comments of the three-year olds. Kim was dedicated to her work as a patient advisor for Vidant Health System (formerly Pitt Memorial Hospital), Greenville, NC and its entities. Considering this volunteer work as a ministry, Kim served on many committees and spoke at local and national events promoting patient-centered care. Kim’s pride and joy was her daughter, Randal “Randi” Marie. Randi was an exceptionally devoted and mature daughter. Kim’s presence at anything that Randi was involved in was energizing. Kim thought of Randi as the best daughter in the world…a true blessing from God. Her father preceded her in death. Along with her mom and Randi, Kim leaves three devoted sisters, Ellenita Tonnaye Golding, Fayetteville, NC, Duchess Monique Hunter (Casie), Perry GA, Nikki Arthea Kristina Blanton of Winterville NC; two nephews, Lazar Donavan Hunter, Casey Dalton Hunter (her godson) of Perry, GA; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, including a special sister-friend, Lillie T. Parker, close friends, Allen and Carmen Best and her Vidant family, all of Greenville, NC.
