Dana Howard

Dana Duan Howard the son of the late Eleanor Ruth Howard and the late Robert Jones was born on June 11, 1970 in New Brunswick, NJ. Dana attended the New Brunswick school system where math was his favorite subject. In 1997 Dana moved to Greenville, NC. In 2017 Dana attended Pitt Community College where he received a certificate in Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning “HVAC.” Dana was known as “Prince” to EXIT 9. They knew him from the beginning and to the end. They always have been and always will be “FAMILY.” There love is pure and real. He was “Prince” and Prince told it like it was unapologetically (Straight faced) as “Momski” put it. Prince was the one that would give you the shirt off his back. If you needed something he made sure you got it. That’s the type of friend Prince was. Dana employment consisted of fifteen years in the restaurant business as a seafood cook. In 2017 he began working at Wright Choice as a commercial HVAC technician. He enjoyed this work and this is where he was working at the time of his departure. Dana loved football and in his younger years he played Pop Warner football as he became an adult the love of football never left him. His favorite NFL team was the San Francisco 49ers. Dana was a very quiet and reserved individual, but he could be very outspoken, and was popular especially at his favorite spot Chicos. “Chicos,” which the people there was considered his second family. This is where he opened up and was able to be himself. He had a special seat that he always sat in. That seat is currently reserved in his honor for a short while. Everyone loved him at Chico’s. Dana loved going to Atlantic Beach with his friends practically every weekend. He stated, “I get to relax and listen to the waves, the wind and the sound is so relaxing to me.” Dana was preceded in death by one brother, James E. Grimes; two nephews; Derek A. Brathwaite and Duan D. Howard. Dana leaves to cherish his memories, two daughters, Zhanesia Howard of Raleigh, NC, Tyeisha Smith of Greenville, NC; two grandsons, Kace Howard-Jones, Kaius Begeleus; two brothers, Amin Varnell Mohammed (Edith), Derrick L. Howard; three sisters, Kathy Howard-Atkinson (Willie), Deborah Howard-Blount (Lindsey), Dasheen E. Grimes all of Greenville, NC; one special friend, Clifton Davis aka ”Boobie” whom he fussed with all the time, just to end with the phrase “I love you man. I love you!! A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
